‘CRADLE TO CRADLE'

As a society we begin to see that we deplete the biodiversity, natural resources and raw materials of the earth. If the limits are already reached, where will it go now the world's population is increasing substantially and billions of people pursuit our Western society consumerism. Is there an economic future or just an interesting dramatic ecological future at the horizon?

The Cradle-to-Cradle-Concept (by Walter Stahel around 1980) shows that we do not have to choose between economic and ecological growth. Economy and ecology can be mutually reinforcing. To achieve this we must design our products, logistic processes, buildings and cities much more intelligent.

If we do this according to the circular principles of Cradle-to-Cradle, then our productions become clean, are understandable ecosystems integrated into our cities and buildings, and products are after use completely dismantable, therefore a valuable commodity and consumers no longer polluter.

Cradle-to-Cradle is not only an ultimate sustainability concept but much more a new economic model and business concept. Initial experience with this concept, in urban development and industry, show that it is a very profitable concept.

Buildings are designed with respect to the health of both the people who live and work in it and with respect for the environment. Use of natural light is preferable and artificial light is blocked as much as possible. Natural ventilation, instead of air-conditioning. These measures save energy and promote the health of people. The building materials and business equipment are healthy and safe for humans and animals and reusable.

We want to contribute to your architectural healthy environment. That is why the sustainability, according to the Cradle-to-Cradle philosophy is, one of the four perspectives witch we use approaching our assignments. In our overall design philosophy you can read about the other three perspectives we use while dealing with an assignment.
